We have both been involved with RGS events, and with the Explore weekend symposium, for almost a decade.
Nov 4 & 5, London
This weekend is a highlight of the annual calendar: a series of presentations from researchers working around the world, sharing insights, inspiration, fieldwork tips and advice. The weekend has an emphasis on peeer-to-peer support, networking, sharing and there’s a really good balance between people who feel ‘new’ to geography, fieldwork, environmental research, and those who have many decades of experience under their belt – yet admit to continually, and always, learning.
We will be roaming around during the weekend being part of conversations, often to be found near the coffee machine, and are helping to run a workshop on Sunday 5th with Roseann Hanson:
Creative Projects: Art, Exhibitions and Participation
You don’t need to come to our workshop but we can’t recommend Explore highly enough for anyone wanting to learn more about research in the field, cross-overs between human, cultural, physical, social and creative geography, or what people get up to when they’re learning more in specific locations (think glaciers, rainforests, meadows, bogs, cities, deserts … all will likely be covered). And if you have a question, you will be guaranteed to find someone who can answer it AND direct you to someone who can answer it in more detail!
