The Small Things
Get closer, and still closer. The more you look the more you see. Nature’s grand vistas often get the lion’s share of people’s attention but overlooking the small things is to miss whole worlds of colour, shape, activity, and wonder. Busy ecosystems made up of tiny things, short walks, life beneath the water in a small rock pool that disappears when the tide comes in, random conversations – all these small things contribute to the bigger picture and are relevant to global issues. We’re building a collection of brief moments, small things, close observations.
”On The Edge: The guillemots perch on the stack. Theirs is a precarious life where land is less easy to navigate than wind and sea, and death hovers. How their young will fare will be apparent in a few weeks – first the eggs that are laid must be guarded from ambush, then the chicks themselves, then comes the peril of a first flight, a first swim, and the openness of ocean and sky.
