September 10, 2022, 10am – 1pm
A chance to saunter along the new boardwalk into the heart of the extraordinary landscape of Bolton Fell Moss, with pauses for poetry and to chat about the history of this place. It’s a lowland raised mire near Carlisle that was untouched for thousands of years, then extensively mined for the peat industry, and is now being restored as a National Nature Reserve. The conversations and poetry will reflect our experiences on the bog, and what we’ve learnt from restoration specialists, ecologists, reserve managers and people who worked here when it was a peat factory. (The reserve isn’t open to the public until 2023, so this is a private event with limited places).
